Indian Fry Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups water, warm
  • vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  • 1 Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • 2 Add the water and knead the dough until soft.
  • 3 Roll the dough until 1/4 inch thick, then cut out rounds 4 inches in diameter.
  • 4 Fry the bread in 2 to 3 inches of hot oil until puffed and browned on both sides.
  • 5 Serve with honey, or powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
