Cheese Danish Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups baking mix
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 Prepare CHEESE FILLING:.
  • 3 Beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and almond extract until smooth.
  • 4 Reserve.
  • 5 CAKE:.
  • 6 Heat butter in 13 x 9-inch pan in oven until melted.
  • 7 Rotate pan to spread butter.
  • 8 Mix baking mix, egg, sugar, milk, oil, and almond extract in bowl.
  • 9 Beat vigorously for 30 seconds.
  • 10 Spread batter in pan.
  • 11 Pour Cheese Filling evenly over batter and cut through mixture about 10 times.
  • 12 Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 13 Cool 15 minutes.
  • 14 Drizzle with POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE:.
  • 15 Mix powdered sugar and water until smooth and easy to drizzle.
  • 16 Sprinkle with nuts.
